FAVORITE MOVIES
What are your five favorite movies with romance or romantic elements?
I’m a HUGE fan of romantic comedies, so whenever I find myself sitting down to watch a movie at home, that’s where I go. My go-to, escape, don’t have to think for two hours, sigh contentedly at the end movies are Overboard (all-time favorite—don’t judge—lol), You’ve Got Mail, Love Actually, Forrest Gump, and then…just to throw in a ringer…I do Harry Potter marathons obsessively and more often than I should probably admit.
Describe your favorite scene from each one (you can include a Youtube clip if you want as well).
Overboard -
You’ve Got Mail -
Love Actually – The opening makes me cry every time!
Forrest Gump – Cry here too
Harry Potter (waited YEARS for this) -
Did you have any of these scenes in mind when writing scenes from your latest release?
I’m not sure about scenes, but there are definitely emotions evoked in these scenes, be it the humor, the romance or the even the tears, that I try to bring out in my own stories. In Seducing the Boss, I draw heavily on humor through the banter between Kellan and Sara.
FIVE BOOKS:
If you could only read five books for the rest of your life, what five books would they be, and why?
Wow, this is the cruelest question ever. ONLY FIVE? I’m pretending the Harry Potter series was released in one gigantic box set, so that only counts as one. Then I’d choose To Kill a Mockingbird, Outlander, Devil’s Embrace (it’s an old 80’s bodice ripper from Catherine Coulter and a total guilty pleasure for me) and Sara’s Seduction by Lora Leigh.
BOOK BOYFRIENDS
Who are your book boyfriends? (list a maximum of five) What do you like about them? What characteristics do they share with the hero from your latest release?
Jamie Fraser—it’s that alpha male thing. Atticus Finch (from To Kill a Mockingbird)—the ideal father. Professor Snape—absolute devotion. I’m pretty sure that line “Always” is the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard! And apart from the ideal dad part, I think Kellan does share a lot of the same attributes as Jamie and Snape. He’s got that bad boy alpha thing going on and he is very devoted to Sara, the heroine, who has been his friend since childhood.
Everyone has a favorite couple (an “OTP” in ‘shipping terms) in romance, whether in a romance book, movie, or television series. Who is your favorite couple, and why?
My favorite couple, at the moment, is Jamie and Claire from Outlander. I’ve been reading the books since their release and now, with the TV show, I’m hooked again. Best line of my marriage came early on when I was re-reading Outlander for the gazillionth time. My husband looked at me and said, “I can’t compete with a fictional character!” Oh, but if only he could. LOL
FIRST ROMANCE (AKA My First Time):
What was the first romance novel you read?
Forever by Judy Blume
What do you remember about it?
The SEX! It was absolutely scandalous.
What did you like most about it?
See answer above. LOL
What did you like least about it?
The conversation my mother (who gave me the book) wanted to have afterwards. First and last time she suggested a book to me, by the way. She asked me what I learned from the story. I said, “If you really love someone, it’s okay.” She said, “No, you learned to wait until after marriage.” That lesson went right over my head.
Have you ever reread it? If you did, how do you feel about it now?
I haven’t. But now I want to. Dare I give it to my daughter?
