Remember the before times, when the only books you read were stories that were recommended to you by family and friends, or assigned in school. Or when you used to steal paperbacks from your mom or grandma because the covers looked racy and sophisticated, and you were ten years old and you totally thought you had the patience and mental capacity to get through Waiting To Exhale. Or maybe you were lucky enough to have a friendly librarian in your life who kept you up to your eyelids in the news titles. Things were simpler then. Reading lists were manageable. You’d finish one and then you’d start the next, EZ-PZ.
And then the internet got faster and the world got bigger and oh my god there are so many freaking books. And then you do something stupid like decide to grow up and get a job and you have do things like pay bills and pay attention to your family. The books, they multiply, but the time, oh the time, there’s never enough time. So here I am, sharing the books I desperately want to read when I find the time.
Song of Blood and Stone by L. Penelope
The cover for this book is gorgeous, the blurb is amazing, but then you get to the end note: “This multicultural new adult fantasy romance takes place in an alternate 1920s timeline with hints of steampunk, dieselpunk and decopunk. Perfect for those who want magic and adventure in their love stories”. It’s like L. Penelope knew exactly what I wanted before I knew what I wanted.
The Viking Wants Forever by KoKo Brown
Nerdy gal. Time travel. Vikings! I mean, who am I to say no to a viking.
Heat Exchange by Shannon Stacey (and the subsequent books that follow)
I’m from New England so Stacey hooked me with the Boston setting. I’m also a sucker for the “I really don’t want to go back to my home town, but I have to and of course there’s a super sexy future spouse waiting there for me” trope. Bonus, Firefighters.
There’s Something About Werewolves (Seven Brides for Seven Shifters) by Thalia Eames
That subtitle, ooooowee that subtitle. So much promise. Seven? I like series. I like shifters and you’re telling me that I’m going to get to swim (or shift ahehehe) around in this world for seven books, at least? I say let’s do it.
The Big Girl’s Guide To Buying Lingerie by Amie Stuart
Internet dating and computer love are at an all time high so it’s a little shocking to me that more romances don’t deal with people meeting/courting online. This is something I want more of. I am also a big girl and I will take any tips I can get when it comes to buying lingerie.
There’s the tip of the iceberg and please believe the iceberg is huge. There are many more titles to come. ::glitter confetti::
