When I decided to write a bodyguard romance, I knew that whether my bodyguard was going to be a man or a woman, I had to re-watch The Bodyguard, that iconic 1992 movie with Kevin Costner and the great Whitney Houston.

The Bodyguard came out when I was in high school, and I remember falling in love with Kevin Costner AND Whitney Houston because of it. Who didn’t?? And sure, the acting is a little flat and a lot of the appeal was in the soundtrack (that song still gives me goosebumps), but it still has something special about it.

At the height of her career, Ms. Houston played a diva surrounded by luxury and yes-men, but suddenly finds herself the victim of a nasty stalker who makes increasingly scary threats. Enter Kevin Costner as an ex-secret service agent haunted by his past, who has one last chance at a job.

Of course, Ms. Houston finds her hot bodyguard’s restrictions on her freedom burdensome and his broody looks distracting, until those restrictions give the two of them some sexually-fueled alone-time…and the rest is history!

There have been a lot of remakes and/or reboots done lately of popular 80’s and 90’s movies (Annie, Mad Max, Point Break). I would be curious to see how a remake of The Bodyguard would stand up, and I’ve heard that Neverending Story and American Werewolf in London are on the list to be redone soon, too.

Are there any stories that you would like to see reimagined, and who would be the best to play the characters?
