Guest Post: “Four Authors of Erotic SciFi Romance” by Veronica Scott

In the mood to read a book that combines supernova-hot erotic elements with a futuristic plot?

Today I’m highlighting a few authors who deliver just that in their scifi. Between them, these ladies deploy everything, from BDSM and femdom to spanking and menage in their intergalactic adventures. Definitely not for the under 18 crowd!

Under By Treaty Kayla Stonor
Kayla Stonor:  Her Qui Treaty Collection is an autobuy for me. Under By Treaty is the first volume in the series and got me completely hooked on Ms. Stonor and the Qui-human relations. There’s a human alpha hero in the first book, General Jaden, sacrificed by his own people for the greater good, given up as a prisoner as the book opens. A sexy alien shapeshifter who may or may not be trying to save Earth from destruction by her own people is his captor.  Intergalactic politics laced with domination, submission and devotion influence Jaden’s fate among  the aliens. Several major plot twists occur to keep the action moving nicely. The science fiction worldbuilding is well-handled and I definitely bought into the romance that develops between Jaden and the very alien heroine.

I frown, peering over at the boat in question, now even blurrier than before. “I didn’t notice anyone there.”

“Not surprised. Come on. You need to go to bed.” His hand slides around my lower back and prods me toward shore.

A rare defiant streak surges. I didn’t fly thousands of miles away from my overbearing mama only to be scolded and ordered around by a stranger. I jab his chest with my finger. “You can’t tell me what to do. You’re not the boss of me. The boss is the boss of me. And he can boss me.” I’m not sure that made much sense.

Guest Post: Rebecca Grace Allen’s 10 Reasons Why Lawyers Make Great Doms

His Contract Rebecca Grace Allen

In romance, businessmen have a reputation for being some of the yummiest heroes out there. They’re smart, powerful, and look damn good in a suit. Lawyers check all those boxes, and take the smoking-hot-hero level to explosive when you add in their passion for the law. So what makes a lawyer an excellent Dominant? Here’s my top ten reasons why: (For pics-pirational purposes, I’ve added images of Harvey Specter from the TV show Suits.)

1. Lawyers have confidence.

Capable attorneys radiate a sense of command that puts his or her clients at ease. It’s not just from the cut of their clothing or the dollar amounts in their paychecks—a good lawyer must make countless decisions during a trial, decisions where someone’s future hangs in the balance, and he or she must know they have the stuff to win. That kind of self-assurance in a Dom’s hands? *fans self*

Guest Post: Speed: The Complete Rock Star Collection by Jess Dee

Speed: The Complete Rock Star Collection Jess Dee

The release of my newest boxset, Speed: The Complete Rock Star Collection, reminded me how I initially came up with the idea for the Speed series. See, it all evolved from one tiny, little innocent daydream.

I was listening to my favorite song at the time (Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours) and fantasizing about how cool it would be if I could meet the star in person. With that, my mind immediately began exploring all the possible (okay, impossible) ways to make this happen and settled on the scenario of finding myself seated next to him on a plane trip.

Exclusive Excerpt: THE QUEEN by Tiffany Reisz

The Queen Tiffany Reisz

Today The Queen, the final book in the Original Sinners White Years by Tiffany Reisz is out! This is a fantastic series that I enjoy and Tiffany’s writing is fantastic! (If you haven’t read the series, you should start with The Siren, which is book one of the Red Years and on sale for $1.99!) We’ve got an exclusive excerpt for you from The Queen, and hope you enjoy!

Once upon a time, Nora and Søren made a fateful deal—if he gave her everything, she would give him forever.

The time has finally come to keep their promises.

Out of money and out of options after her year-long exile, Eleanor Schreiber agrees to join forces with Kingsley Edge, the king of kink. After her first taste of power as a Dominant, Eleanor buries her old submissive self and transforms into Mistress Nora, the Red Queen. With the help of a mysterious young man with a job even more illicit than her own, Nora squares off against a cunning rival in her quest to become the most respected, the most feared Dominatrix in the Underground.

While new lovers and the sweet taste of freedom intoxicate Nora, she is tempted time and time again by Søren, her only love and the one man who refuses to bow to her. But when Søren accepts a new church assignment in a dangerous country, she must make an agonizing choice—will the queen keep her throne and let her lover go, or trade in her crown for Søren’s collar?

With a shattering final confession, the last link in the chain is forged in The Original Sinners saga. It’s the closing chapter in a story of salvation, sacrifice and the multitude of scars we collect in the name of ecstasy—and love.

Kingsley caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers.

He narrowed his eyes at her, his expression inscrutable.

“What? What is it?” she asked.

Eden Bradley’s GIRL (The Training House Book One)

Girl Book One Eden Bradley

Girl (The Training House Book One)
Eden Bradley

In those breathless moments between pleasure and pain lie the most poignant truths…

These books contains material that may be difficult to read about and/or cause triggers for some readers, including consensual non-consent and other scenes that could be disturbing. Do NOT try this at home!

I have signed myself over to The Training House: my devotion, my obedience, my body. It is what I have always yearned for—to lose myself in powerlessness. To be made to. But this place is more than anyone could possibly prepare for, especially the Master of the House. He is too stunning, too commanding, bringing out a yearning for submission in ways I have never imagined, and I am lost in nearly unbearable desire. He uses my body until he brings me to tears, then tenderly wipes them away, enslaving me to him instantly, body and soul. I cannot imagine existing without him, without his wicked touch, his strict and sensual command…

Until I meet another slave, and he changes the game of kink for me forever. How can I decide what my heart wants most, without risking losing it all?

Eden Bradley, who also write as Eve Berlin, has never shied away from intense BDSM sexuality and action in her romances. In the first offering of her new The Training House series, she does not just push the envelope, she rips it wide open, offering up extreme BDSM and kink.

Bradley sets the stage from page one, with a Contract and Terms of Agreement for Servitude which her protagonist, Aimee, has signed. It is blatant. It is slightly terrifying. And it is irrevocable. So we are already on a keen edge as we begin the journey with Aimee when she arrives at The House, where she will be known from the first moment only as “Girl.” What she undergoes and experiences is all the more intense because there is no turning back.

Has Erotica Become the Beige Granny Panties of Romance?

EverAfter Romance

I first discovered erotica when I first discovered ebooks. I loved erotica for the same reason I love reading in general: I love the escape and the ability to live through the fictional lives of others. At that time I was a young mother with a stressful job and financial issues. Reading was great, but erotica was exciting and new and, not to mention kind of dirty and forbidden.

Then Fifty Shades of Grey happened and erotica became a bit more mainstream. It wasn’t hard to find a book with BDSM elements or with an Alpha Billionaire and a naive young protege. Taboo wasn’t taboo anymore; it was everywhere. People were actually asking me about erotica (albeit in hushed tones) at church. Erotica was easy to get and I was reading it as often as I was reading mainstream romance novels.

And then I wasn’t and I’m not.

Why? Because it all started to read the same. No longer was erotica the sexy, bright, red thong of my reading wardrobe, it became the beige granny panties. Just a boring same old-same old in which an Alpha billionaire/MC president/rockstar/DEA Agent/MMA fighter/sex club owner/shifter of some kind meets a naive ingenue/single mom/investigative journalist/uptight sex therapist/curvy entrepreneur and teaches her about the darker side/emotional healing power/feminist truth of pleasure. Over and over and over again. For me, erotica became the Groundhog Day of reading.

Guest Post: Lexxie Couper, Jess Dee, and Sami Lee Discuss TROPICAL HAZE

Tropical Haze Sami Lee

Today we have authors Lexxie Couper, Jess Dee, and Sami Lee talking about their experience and favorite parts of writing their Bandicoot Cove continuity, which is available in Tropical Haze!

Sami Lee:

There’s nothing like holidaying with good friends, but the next best thing is writing with friends—especially when you write stories set in such an idyllic place as Bandicoot Cove, where love and passion can sweep characters… or readers… away. Lexxie, Jess and I had such fun with this series, and we’re so excited that it will now be offered as a digital box set! Today we thought we’d share our favorite snippets from each of our stories:

My favorite part of Moonlight Mirage isn’t even one of the (hot!) love scenes. It was this moment at the groom’s buck’s party when Mitch’s iron control finally unraveled completely. A man who’s always prided himself of being the responsible one actually commits physical violence for the first time in his life because he’s jealous of the heroine’s relationship with a character I loved so much I wrote him his own story in Unforgettable Summer.

Guest Post: “Happy Endings Can Be Sad…For the Author” by Cecilia Tan

The Poet and the Prophecy Cecilia Tan

Cecilia Tan’s Magic University series comes to a conclusion with the release of The Poet and the Prophecy, out today. Cecilia is happy to bring the series to a conclusion–but also sad to see it end. She explains her mixed emotions below. Thanks, Cecilia!

This week the final volume in my Magic University series has finally hit shelves/Kindles and it seems a good moment to reflect on endings and the ending of a series.

I know not all series are like this. Some seemingly could go on forever. At a panel called “How NOT To End A Series” at the RWA national conference this year bestselling author Shannon Stacey lamented that she had to end her Kowlaskis Series because “I ran out of Kowalskis.”

But in a series like Magic University, which mixes fantasy with new adult romance, I knew I had a set endpoint. Like the Harry Potter series which inspired it, Magic University has one book per year of school. Book four, The Poet and the Prophecy, is Kyle’s senior year. In fantasy, there is always a quest: I combined fantasy and romance here by making it a quest to find true love, a quest that takes four years to complete.
