Jus Accardo hasn’t just given us a great science fiction romance in Infinity and an amazing Q&A. She’s also made us Google “cake pie”. It is a real thing and it is beautiful. Your day is better now!
What are your five favorite movies with romance or romantic elements?
Kate and Leopold
10 Things I Hate About You
Never Been Kissed
Grosse Pointe Blank
Describe your favorite scene from each one (you can include a Youtube clip if you want as well).
When Kate goes to Leopold in the 19th century swoon
When Patrick ‘apologises’ to Kat by singing to her during practice. sigh
The last scene, when Josie is out on the baseball field and the timer has run out. She thinks Sam isn’t coming—but he does. Total AWW moment! I bet every girl wishes their first kiss could be that epic 😉
Unfortunately, I can’t find a clip, but my favorite scene is when Martin and Debi are chatting in the radio station after not seeing each other for years. The chemistry is off the charts and their banter is awesome!
Albert and Allegra are so freaking cute together. My fave scene is a toss-up between the dance club and their first kiss.
Did you have any of these scenes in mind when writing scenes from your latest release?
I didn’t. I generally work to the book’s playlist. One song I had in mind during a particularly swoony scene was Hailee Stienfeld – Starving.
If you could only read five books for the rest of your life, what five books would they be, and why?
Oh, wow. This is a painful choice… I guess if I HAVE to pick, it would be:
Any 5 of the books in the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. I’m not even picky. ANY of them would work. I mean, if I could only read five books for the rest of my life, how could I possibly live without Charley and Reyes? I couldn’t.
Who are your book boyfriends? (list a maximum of five) What do you like about them? What characteristics do they share with the hero from your latest release?
I have SOO many, so to be fair, I’m going to pick my favorite Adult and my favorite YA.
Clayton Danvers (Bitten – Kelley Armstrong): The thing I love most about Clay is that he’s determined. He decided Elena was the girl for him and even though he had to wait years—and fight like hell—he got her. He’s a lot like Cade, the hero in Infinity in that way. Once his mind is set on something that he wants, he gets it.
Ponyboy Curtis (The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton): Like Cade, Pony is fiercely loyal and would do anything for those he loves. He was one of my first book boyfriends!
FIRST ROMANCE (AKA My First Time):
What was the first romance novel you read?
I think it was the Princess Bride. Not a true romance novel, but I remember being so taken with it.
What do you remember about it?
Epic sword fights, revenge, edge-of-your-seat chases and epic escapes—and a romance that still makes me smile.
What did you like most about it?
I was enthralled by the romance between Buttercup and Westley
What did you like least about it?
I read it as a kid and I think some parts dragged a little for me.
Have you ever reread it? If you did, how do you feel about it now?
I reread it every few years and it remains one of my favorites.
Darcy or Wentworth?
Christian or Gideon?
I’ve actually read neither, but going by what I know, I’m gonna go with Gideon.
Rochester or Heathcliff?
Spock or Kirk?
Sunrise or sunset?
Angst or humor?
I’ll take an angst-humor swirl, please.
Tea or coffee?
Wine or beer?
Cake or pie?
Someone needs to invent a cake pie…
Scruff, beard, or clean-shaven?
Scruff. Any day.
Blue-collar or white collar?
Blue collar all the way
Jeans or a suit?
Car or motorcycle?
