Q&A
Q&A: Faye Avalon of the BEASTS OF BODMIN MOOR Series
FAVORITE MOVIES:
What are your five favorite movies with romance or romantic elements? Describe your favorite scene from each one (you can include a Youtube clip if you want as well).
1) Out of Africa. The story, the acting, the cinematography, and of course the fabulous John Barry score. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. So many fabulous scenes, but this one, flying over Africa, gets me every time. The moment when she reaches for his hand. Beautiful.
2) You’ve Got Mail. A sweet, heart-warming love story. I love the scene where the characters wonder how they would have been together if he hadn’t put her out of business.
3) Something’s Gotta Give. Great feel-good movie about falling in love with your daughter’s boyfriend. When they meet in the kitchen for a late-night snack, the spark begins to smolder.
4) Avatar. “I see you” Enough said.
5) Under the Tuscan Sun. Well, it has Raoul Bova in it. What else do you need?
Did you have any of these scenes in mind when writing scenes from your latest release?
Not really, but I suppose every romantic scene that ever touched me deeply in some way infiltrates my writing.
FIVE BOOKS
If you could only read five books for the rest of your life, what five books would they be, and why?
1) To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee. I fell in love with Atticus Finch. He’s the perfect hero, a man who does what his conscience dictates even when it doesn’t make him popular. That quiet, commanding strength of character is what I really admire in a man.
2) Immortal Queen, Elizabeth Byrd. I read this when I was about fifteen and the spine of the book crumbled so badly from repeated reads that I stuck it together with tape. Such a hauntingly beautiful tale of Mary Queen of Scots and her love affair with Lord Bothwell. My teenage heart was lost forever.
3) Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen. A no-brainer for a romance writer 🙂
4) Light on Yoga, B.K.S. Iyengar. I couldn’t live without my daily yoga fix.
5) Great Expectations, Charles Dickens. Great story, fascinating characters and exceptional writing.
Who are your book boyfriends? (list a maximum of five) What do you like about them? What characteristics do they share with the hero from your latest release?
Too many to name, but they are all confident, sexy and honorable men. Plus, they know how to make a woman laugh.
Everyone has a favorite couple (an “OTP” in ‘shipping terms) in romance, whether in a romance book, movie, or television series. Who is your favorite couple, and why?
It would have to be Darcy and Elizabeth.

What do you remember about it?
