Guest Post: “How Do I Celebrate Release Day?” by Carolyn Brown

One Texas Cowboy Too Many Carolyn Brown

Thank you so much for inviting me to Ever After Romance to talk about my new release, One Texas Cowboy Too Many. This is the third book in the Burnt Boot series which started with Cowboy Boots for Christmas (Cowboy Not Included) and The Trouble with Texas Cowboys. Don’t put your boots away after this one though because there’s another one coming up. A Cowboy’s Christmas Miracle is scheduled for release on September 6.

So how do I celebrate release day? I’d like to say that I reserve a couple of nights in a five star hotel and have room service bring me breakfast in bed. Or that I book a cruise and order breakfast on the balcony. Either one would be a fantastic start to my release day celebration.

Exclusive Excerpt: REBEL COWBOY by Nicole Helm

Rebel Cowboy Nicole Helm

We’re proud to bring you this exclusive excerpt of Nicole Helm’s Rebel Cowboy, out now!

Dan, who you don’t have to resist.

But she did. She didn’t know why; she only knew in some part of her that he was dangerous and needed to be resisted, no matter what that dark, quiet voice in the back of her head said.

“We should go unload your lumber,” she managed, her voice rusty.

“That sounds like a euphemism.” There was humor in his tone, but it was tempered with something. Something that made her chest ache.

Not pity. Pity was too gross of a word, and this wasn’t gross. It was sweet. Sympathy or commiseration or, God forbid, care.

“We have to work.”

But his hand reached out and touched her face, brushing tears off her cheeks. Dan stepped closer, like he was going to hug her again. She would stand firm against it this time, she would—

His hands cupped her jaw, green eyes fixed on her face. On her, the cool of his calloused palms a welcome relief from all the heat in her cheeks. From the crying, from the embarrassment.

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

Part Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates
A onetime bad girl comes home to small-town Oregon in the first in a sexy, heartfelt new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Maisey Yates

Sadie Miller isn’t expecting any welcome-home parades on her return to Copper Ridge. Least of all from part-time rancher, full-time lawman Eli Garrett. The straitlaced, impossibly hot deputy sheriff glares at her as if she’s the same teenage hoodlum who fled town ten years ago. But running from her demons has brought Sadie full circle, ready to make a commitment at last. Not to a man, but to a bed-and-breakfast. On Garrett land. Okay, so her plan has a tiny flaw…

Eli works too hard to let a blonde ball of trouble mess up his town. But keeping an eye on Sadie makes it tough to keep his hands off her. And if she’s so wrong for him, why does being with her feel so right?

The Mane Event by Shelly Laurenston

Mace Llewellyn. Brendon Shaw. Two tall, gorgeous, sexy alpha heroes who are 100% male—with a little something extra. Lion-shifters, to be exact, who can unleash every woman’s animal side and still look good—make that spectacular—in a suit. . .and even better out of it. . .

NYPD cop Desiree “Dez” MacDermot knows she’s changed a lot since she palled around with her childhood buddy, Mace. But it’s fair to say that Mace has changed even more. It isn’t just those too-sexy gold eyes, or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy Seal body. It’s something in the way he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle. . . Meanwhile, for Tennessean Ronnie Lee Reed, New York City is the place where any girl—even one who runs with a Pack—can redefine herself. First order of business: find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion shifter men like Brendon Shaw. But she needn’t worry, because now that Brendon’s set his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let go…

Swoon-Worthy Heroes

Swoon-Worthy Hero Highlights: Turner from Julia Quinn’s The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever

Secret Diaries Julia Quinn

As a long time Julia Quinn fan, I have many favorite books by her, but The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever is at the very top of the list. Mostly because it’s one of my all-time favorite tropes. The heroine, Miranda, has had a crush on Turner, her best friend’s older brother, for the longest time. Because of the age gap between them, he marries another at a young age thinking he’s in love, but becomes a bitter, angry man once he finds out that she was unfaithful to him. When she dies, Turner is determined to never be at the mercy of love or a woman again.

Now, we all love a good tortured hero and Turner definitely falls under that category. Although he can come off as rude, and several mistakes he makes with Miranda had me cursing him, underneath all the outrageous behavior and snark, is still the amazingly kind man that Miranda had a crush on. As the story goes on, that man begins to emerge, Turner becomes a hero you can both fall for and wish to shake some sense into, depending on where you’re at in the book.

Nigel Bevenstoke

But overall, Turner is as Swoon-Worthy as they come and here’s why.

Exclusive Excerpt: NAKED HUNGER by Desiree Holt

Naked Hunger Desiree Holt

Naked Hunger by Desiree Holt is out today from Samhain Publishing. We’ve got an exclusive excerpt for you to enjoy. Be sure and pick up you copy of Naked Hunger today!

Huge thanks to best selling author Sable Hunter for letting me use her name for my heroine.

Sable Hunter paid her dues caring for suburban pets in West Texas. Ready to get back to her first love—large animals—she’s excited about moving to Saddle Wells to take over for the retiring veterinarian. With a reputation to build, she can’t afford any distractions, and the sizzling heat between her and local rancher Ryan Donovan could seriously mess with her focus.

Ryan earned his stripes the hard way, one bull at a time on the rodeo circuit. Now he’s put his prize money to work raising bulls for competition. He can’t deny he misses the rush of pro riding—until the sweet new vet in town brings a different kind of excitement and makes him want to sweep her into his bed and his future.

Becoming friends with benefits sounds like an excellent compromise to Ryan until he can convince Sable she doesn’t have to choose between career and love. But a costly mistake could destroy her career, as well as any chance for happiness with the man she realizes she loves.

“Does everyone in town come here for lunch?” she asked.

“If they’re in town. That’s why I wanted to bring you here.”

He might have said more but at that moment the waitress appeared at their table so they quickly scanned their menus again. They had just placed their orders and Sable had relaxed in her seat, prepared to answer any other questions Lynch asked, when the air around her suddenly seemed to shift. What felt like an electrical charge whispered over her skin, making the fine hairs stand up and her pulse stutter. What on earth?

Pete Lynch looked up, grinned, and said, “Hey, Ryan. I was hoping to see you.”

“This the vet you were telling me about?”

The voice was deep and warm, rolling over her like hot molasses on a summer day and reaching deep into every crevice of her body. When she looked up she nearly swallowed her tongue. She felt as if all the air had been sucked out of her lungs.  In her life she had seen many gorgeous men, sexy men, handsome men, some all three. But whoever this was beat all of them hands down.

He was without a doubt the largest man she’d ever seen, big without being enormous. He was way over six feet, with broad shoulders, lean hips and long, long legs. The work shirt and faded jeans he wore could have been custom made for him. His face was square-jawed with high cheekbones, and lashes as black as the hair on his head and as thick as any woman’s framed eyes a startling electric blue.

Sable stared at him, her breath trapped in her throat, her nipples hardening painfully into sharp points and the pulse in her sex pounding like a bass drum. In her entire life she had never had such an instantaneous reaction to a man. Any man.

“Sable?” Pete Lynch’s voice broke into her fog. “Let me introduce you to Ryan Donovan.”

Ryan Donovan. Of course, she thought. The man she’d read the article about. And he was quintessential Black Irish. Thought to be descended from the Spanish, with skin that tanned rather than freckled, the black hair that was the iconic symbol along with the large muscular body. Sex on the hoof. She managed to shake herself into some semblance of awareness and nod to him.

“Hi. Sable Hunter. Nice to meet you.”

“And yes,” Pete continued, “the new vet. I hope, anyway.” He looked at Sable. “Ryan owns the Gold Buckle Ranch.”

Sable knew what that meant. She lowered her gaze to his waist and yup, there it was, locked to a leather belt and nestled against his flat abdomen. “I read about you in The Hill Country Herald. You competed on the circuit.

His laugh had a rumbling sound. “Jinx Malone would like to make me out as some local celebrity but I’m just an old rodeo cowboy.”

“But a very successful one,” she protested. “Not everyone gets a gold buckle.”

He shrugged. “As much luck as skill. I quit while I still had most of my bones intact and began breeding bulls for competition.” He narrowed his eyes. “If you take over from Pete here you’ll be tending to them. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anyone your size wrestle a bull.”

God, she was so tired of hearing that. But getting irritated at a man who might be a client wasn’t going to do her any good. She’d found humor usually worked a lot better.

“Actually,” she told him, “bulls have been known to faint in terror just at the sight of me.” She winked. “Some men, too.”

“Damn, you’re good, Sable.” Lynch burst out laughing. “Ryan, I think you’ve met your match.”

The look Ryan Donovan gave her was so penetrating it made all her girl parts quiver and her panties were suddenly drenched. Good lord. What was going on here?

Guest Post: “The Solstice of a Series” by Beth Williamson

Adam Beth Williamson

Eight years ago, I began a journey with a historical western series called Devils of Horseback about a group of five men who had to reinvent themselves after the horror of war. The books are full of emotions, humor, grit, a bit of violence, smexy times, and of course, happily ever afters.

After the last of five books was published, I moved onto different series. The devils, however, called me back. They reminded me they were there, ready to be reborn, a solstice of the series.
