Today we’ve got a Q&A with a Romance author that needs no introduction. Alessandra Torre, known for being one of the few authors in the world to make their characters (and readers) scream with delight and terror. Between steamy romantic scenes and sheer suspense, we’re never on the edge of our seats with an Alessandra Torre book. We’re that embarrassing girl in the cafe who’s accidentally slid off her seat. So when we heard Moonshot would combine suspense, romance, and a lot of our favorite sport, we were all over it. Check out an awesome Q&A below and pick up Moonshot, out today!
What are your five favorite movies with romance or romantic elements?
- Forgetting Sarah Marshall
- The Princess Bride
- The Proposal
- 10 Things I Hate About You
Describe your favorite scene from each one.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall: Singing Dracula musical songs in that Hawaiian dive bar.
The Princess Bride: When Buttercup realizes who Wesley is!
The Proposal: When Margaret and Andrew are in the plane flying to Sitka.
Ghost: When Molly finally believes.
10 Things I Hate About You: “But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.”
Did you have any of these scenes in mind when writing scenes from your latest release?
No, Moonshot came from a different place. If it compared with any of those movies, it would be similar to Princess Bride (in that their love battles so many outside forces) and 10 Things I Hate About You (because their love is so young and intense and – at times – painful).
If you could only read five books for the rest of your life, what five books would they be, and why?
- True Colors by Kristin Hannah (a beautiful story that made me cry)
- The Siren by Tiffany Reissz (incredible writing and characters)
- Flavor of the Month by Olivia Goldsmith (a juicy, drama-filled snack)
- On Writing by Stephen King (always gets me inspired)
- Dark Places by Gillian Flynn (dark and disturbing, each word was delicious)
Who are your book boyfriends? (list a maximum of five) What do you like about them? What characteristics do they share with the hero from your latest release?
- Remy from Real by Katy Evans. He’s so freaking sweet and madly focused and in love with the heroine – he reminds me a lot of Chase from Moonshot.
- Bennett Ryan from Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren. He’s the perfect blend of cocky perfection.
Everyone has a favorite couple (an “OTP” in ‘shipping terms) in romance, whether in a romance book, movie, or television series. Who is your favorite couple, and why?
It’s such a terrible couple to love, but I love Olivia and Fitz from Scandal. They work so well together as a team, and he respects her opinion and intelligence (plus they have smoking hot chemistry).
FIRST ROMANCE (AKA My First Time):
What was the first romance novel you read?
Gosh, I don’t even know. It was a Danielle Steel novel but I don’t know the name of it. I picked it at a vacation home we were staying in. One of those ‘borrowing’ moments.
Darcy or Wentworth?
Rochester or Heathcliff?
Spock or Kirk?
Sunrise or sunset?
Angst or humor?
Tea or coffee?
Neither – I’m a soda or lemonade girl
Wine or beer?
Cake or pie?
Scruff, beard, or clean-shaven?
Blue-collar or white collar?
Jeans or a suit?
Car or motorcycle?
