Christmas is coming up, and single mom Sydney Steele is determined to make this a holiday to remember for Wildcat Bluff County. She still has to get those pesky, reluctant—and deliciously attractive—firefighting cowboys to pose for her charity calendar. They claim they’re too busy pursuing an unknown arsonist to take a break.
Dune Barrett has been flirting with Sydney for months, so he jumps at the chance to give her a hand. And when he agrees to pose as Mr. December, she couldn’t be happier. But to really win her over, Dune will have to convince eleven other guys from his crew to exploit their good looks for charity…a task much easier said than done.
What gifts are on Sydney’s wish list this holiday season? What gifts are on Dune’s?
In A Very Cowboy Christmas, Dune Barrett has Sydney Steele and her daughter, Storm, very much on his mind. He wants to get them something special for Christmas, since he’s been invited to their home for the holiday. Plus, they’ve had a rough time of it lately, what with Storm taking a nose dive off her four-wheeler and Sydney hurting her feet to save her daughter.
He’s been teaching Storm to rope a goat using a goat-tying dummy, but she’s doing so well that he wonders if he should buy her a goat for Christmas. Still, he’s not sure if she might want something well . . . more girly, but if so, he’s clueless. Sydney’s been wearing retro chic clothes to promote Christmas at the Sure-Shot Drive-In, so he wonders if he could find a place to buy her more of the vintage underwear that’s kept him on edge for a month. But again, he could mess that gift up big time, if he could even find the stuff.
They’d all been working hard to make this the best Christmas possible for Wildcat Bluff County while fighting fires and hunting an arsonist. They could use a break. He’d like nothing better than to get away, but only if he could do it with Sydney. He envisions a luxury cruise ship out of Houston to the Bahamas, but that’d leave Storm with her grandmother and it just didn’t seem fair. Plus, he’d miss the cute tyke. He’d heard Disney had family cruises tailored for the younger set. Could he take a chance on buying cruise tickets for Christmas, or should he go with a goat and lingerie?
Sydney and Storm want to get Dune something special for Christmas. He’s been such a boon to them, helping Storm with her goat-tying skills and Sydney with Christmas at the Sure-Shot Drive-in and the Wildcat Bluff Cowboy Firefighter calendar. He’s volunteered his time, energy, and effort to make the holiday special in Wildcat Bluff County. But what do you get a guy who appears to have everything? Great pickup, check. Fine cowboy clothes, check. Good job, check. Fancy stocking on her mantle, check.
Storm insists they couldn’t do better than a batch of her gingerbread cookies. Sydney agrees, but she wants to do more. Would Dune like something vintage in a set of Zane Grey Western novels or a Roy Rogers watch? Maybe a pair of special cowboy boots from Gene’s Boot Hospital? And yet, when it comes down to it, she wants them to do something together. She knows there’s a special cruise out of Galveston that caters to kids and adults alike. Does she dare buy three tickets for Christmas?
