Thank you so much for inviting me to Ever After Romance to talk about my new release, One Texas Cowboy Too Many. This is the third book in the Burnt Boot series which started with Cowboy Boots for Christmas (Cowboy Not Included) and The Trouble with Texas Cowboys. Don’t put your boots away after this one though because there’s another one coming up. A Cowboy’s Christmas Miracle is scheduled for release on September 6.
So how do I celebrate release day? I’d like to say that I reserve a couple of nights in a five star hotel and have room service bring me breakfast in bed. Or that I book a cruise and order breakfast on the balcony. Either one would be a fantastic start to my release day celebration.
After that I would spend the day reading a thousand reviews on my lap top, taking calls from movie producers who are in a bidding war for the rights to the book and maybe eating strawberries dipped in chocolate and sipping on champagne.
Then in the evening I would dress in a designer outfit and get into a stretch limo which would take me to dinner with my husband at a restaurant where folks would stand in line for me to sign their napkins.
But that’s all fantasy.
What I really do is cross from bedroom to office, sit down at my computer and check the sites to see if the new release is getting to sit anywhere in a top 100 bestseller list. My sweet husband (it takes a saint to live with an author) will most likely drive up to my favorite doughnut shop on the corner and bring home half a dozen iced maple long johns for me to celebrate the day.
And after a day of working on the next cowboy story, while checking on those numbers every thirty minutes and hopefully reading a few early reviews, we might go out to dinner to one of our favorite restaurants. I truly believe that all calories and fat grams are null and void on release day so I order what I want, even if it’s three sides of carbohydrates and half a rack of smoked ribs.
But then if I’m tired after looking at numbers all day and getting my 5K word goal for the day met on the WIP, we might just order in a pizza and watch reruns of Justified. (Can’t ever get enough cowboys whether watching Raylan Givens swagger across the screen, write about them, or read about them!)
And that is my fantasy world and the reality of release day. How do you celebrate important days in your life?
