Unfortunately, holidays come and go faster than we can imagine, and before we know it we’re back at home, our jobs and commitments lurking around the corner. To beat the holiday blues I usually go for a sexy, summer read, preferably set on a beach somewhere in the world.
I’ve recently read and loved quite a few holiday books, so here are some of them:
- The God of Jazz: Fugue, Concord by Varian Krylov.
I adore Varian’s books. She’s such an incredibly talented writer! If you haven’t read anything by her yet, you’re missing out. The God of Jazz is not strictly a holiday beach read, but it’s set in Barcelona and there’re plenty of sexy, beachy scenes. Varian currently lives in Barcelona and she’s managed to capture the very essence of the beautiful city. Be careful though – once you read it you’d be tempted to book the first flight to Barcelona.
- Beyond the Sea by Keira Andrews.
Beyond the Sea is set on a desert island. The two MCs are the only survivors of a plane crash and are trying to stay alive with the limited supplies and survival abilities they have, hoping rescue is on the way. I loved this book and I can safely say I’m better equipped to survive on a desert island now that I’ve read it.
- Dreaming in Colour by Cameron Dane.
There are some paranormal elements in this book, but I still feel it’s more of a contemporary romance than a flat out paranormal read. It’s set in Fiji and the gorgeous setting plus the two super hot MCs make it the perfect beach read. Trust me on this.
- Diving in Deep (Florida books #1) by K.A.Mitchell
I loved the whole Florida books series! It’s the perfect combination of a beachy summer read, hot MCs and just enough angst to keep the reader entertained. And if hotter than molten glass sex scenes are your thing you can’t go wrong with a K.A.Mitchell book.
I’ve read and loved all these books, but I also asked some of my friends what their favourites were. I haven’t read the following books but after all the good things I heard about them they’re definitely on my TBR list for this summer. Check them out!
- Summer Heat by Jay Northcote
- Starfish and Coffee by Kele Moon
- Road to the Sun by Keira Andrews
- Three’s a Company by N.R. Walker
- Between Sinners and Saints by Marie Sexton
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Hi, my name is Teodora and I live in London with my husband and my son. I’ve been writing ever since I can remember, but it became my full time job in 2010 when I decided that everything else I’ve tried bores me to death and I have to do what I’ve always wanted to do, but never had to guts to fully embrace. I’ve been a journalist, an editor, a personal assistant and an interior designer among other things, but as soon as the novelty of the new, exciting job wears off, I always go back to writing. Being twitchy, impatient, loud and hasty are not qualities that help a writer, because I have to sit alone, preferably still, and write for most of the day, but I absolutely love it. It’s the only time that I’m truly at peace and the only thing I can do for more than ten minutes at a time – my son has a bigger attention span than me.
When I’m procrastinating, I like to go to the gym, cook Italian meals (and eat them), read, listen to rock music, watch indie movies and True Blood re-runs. Or, in the worst case scenario, get beaten at every Nintendo Wii game by a very inventive kid.
