The New York Times bestselling author of On Dublin Street returns to the bar where it all began with Braden and Joss for a white-hot new novella full of passion and drama.

When he’s not working at the club, Craig Lanaghan looks out for his mother and little sisters. So when it comes to women, all he wants is a good time. But once Rain Alexander walks into his life, there’s no denying that this woman could be worth much more than a one-night stand….

Rain’s lifelong regret is having left her sister Darcy alone years ago with a guardian who turned out to be abusive. So when Darcy’s boyfriend publicly humiliates her in a cruel way, Rain’s overprotective instincts kick in and she follows him to Club 39—where she meets a guy who just might be her perfect match.

The chemistry between Rain and Craig is explosive, but Rain is out for revenge, and refuses to be sidetracked by flirtation. As things between them heat up, she’ll have to make a heartbreaking choice between giving in to the man of her dreams or putting her sister’s happiness first….

The Clash: “Should I stay or Should I Go”
Amy Winehouse: “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”
Dinah Shore: “It Had to be You”
Adele: “Set Fire to the Rain”
Oasis: “She’s Electric”
The Killers: “Read My Mind”
The Killers: “A Dustland Fairytale”
Amy Winehouse: “Me & Mr. Jones”
Adele: “Right as Rain”
Lana Del Rey: “Video Games”
Dean Martin: “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head”
Dirty Pretty Things: “If You Love a Woman”
Frank Sinatra: “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”

I never write without music playing in the background. Music has always been a huge love of my life— it feeds the soul of my writing and is one of my biggest inspirations. A melody or lyric can somehow unfurl into a whole scene/chapter/book in my mind, and sometimes it’s just a feeling I get from a song that sparks the ember of an idea.

Most playlists I create are simply songs that either inspired scenes in the book or were incredibly good at creating the right mood for me while writing. The playlist for ONE KING’S WAY is a little different.

The hero and heroine discuss music in a scene in the book and the music they discuss are all taken from the playlist I listened to while writing it. I knew who these characters were musically before I began writing.

Rain, my heroine, was easy because she loves everything retro including the classics and artists who have that retro sound.

Craig, the hero, loves The Clash and Dirty Pretty Things (a band who were heavily influenced by The Clash). Both are up there on the playlist with songs that are relevant to his story.

Rain loves everything old school including Dinah Shore, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. I chose songs from their catalog that fit the mood of the story. Moreover, Rain loves Adele, and so I chose to listen to two of her tracks that have Rain’s name in the lyrics. As for The Killers, this is another band that Rain adores and I added two of their songs that had the right feeling for Rain’s character and how she has felt at different points in her life. “Read My Mind” fits her relationship with Craig and “Dustland Fairytale” is about her search for the perfect relationship before she met Craig.

Rain also loves Amy Winehouse and I chose songs that represent two different moments in her love affair with Craig.

And Finally she’s a big Lana Del Rey fan too and I put Video Games on there because of the melody—it’s one of my favourite songs and loving the music on my playlist is a big must when it comes to writing.
