Top 5 Reasons Emma and Julian Need To Be Together

  1. They have a secret language. They trace letters on each other’s skin and can actually communicate. Have you ever tried that in real life? When I was a kid, my friends and I would try to write messages on each other’s backs and, let me tell you, it is

I or wait is it an A

P actually make than an R

  2. They’re already parabatai.

The Clave’s got it all wrong here that the fact they’re already bound together as parabatai is a curse. (Even though the reason why romantic love between parabatai is forbidden is still a secret at the time of this post so I really don’t know what I’m talking about.)

Of course, parabatai should be together. They know they can make a serious commitment to each other, because they’ve already done it.

Somebody make me a member of the Clave, already. I need some voting power. *Bangs gavel*
  3. They already know that they would be good parents. At this point, Julian is less of an older brother and more of a father figure to his siblings. Emma already fits into Julian’s family perfectly. Bringing someone else into the mix would just be weird.
  4. Their names sound nice together. (Is anyone else really hung up on names? Let me know in the comments!)
  5. Because of quotes like these:

LOS_banner“We are bound together, Emma, bound together—I breathe when you breathe, I bleed when you bleed, I’m yours and you’re mine, you’ve always been mine, and I have always, always belonged to you!”

“You’ll fix me, because we’re parabatai. We’re forever.”

“How long have you been drawing me?”
He sighed. A moment later his hand came to rest in her hair. His fingers twined in the strands. “My whole life.”

With brilliant writing from Queen of Comedy, Tina Fey, and amazing acting from Ellie Kemper and Tituss Burgess, Kimmy Schmidt is a show that when life beats you up…

So many tragedies have happened in Veronica’s life–and a bunch of them are spoilers, so we’re going to breeze over the details–but let’s just say that the series kicks off with the murder of her best friend, Lily Kane. So she’s already been through hell and it’s STILL THE PILOT, PEOPLE. If you love romance and sassy heroines who’ve come through the other side stronger than ever, you have got to check this show out.

Veronica: You didn’t know what would happen.

Mystery Boy Whose Identity Shall Not Be Revealed On This Here Blog: I’m the one who’s responsible for what happened to you. And I can’t take that I hurt you like that. I can’t take that I hurt you when all I wanna do is protect you.

51xEVa9eBJL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_THE FALLEN CREST SERIES by Tijan.

The series follows Sam, a high school girl with an abundance of problems. Her boyfriend is cheating on her. Her mother has her own problems that trickle into Sam’s life, starting with the move. As in, that time they moved in with her mother’s boyfriend and his two sons, Logan and Mason. This one’s for the angst/drama-lovers out there. It’s also perfect for impatient readers, because the final book FALLEN CREST FOREVER just came out! Binge the entire series here.

In that moment, I realized that he always had that affect on me. The ice façade I reined over myself was plucked away whenever his attention was on me. He reached over and took it away like I was a baby with candy.

This may, in fact, be the one and only time you see EverAfter Romance recommending a book that’s… not a romance?! Let me explain. While it’s not a love story, it is a story about relationships. A warning: this story is about an abusive relationship/dating violence (among other things) and can be hard to read. Sarah Dessen has said in interviews that writing this story was particularly difficult for her because she really had to break down her main character, Caitlin, before she could put her back together again. Beautifully written, intricate story, important message. We recommend. (If this book is not up your alley, we also recommend JUST LISTEN by Sarah Dessen. Still heavy but at least there’s a love story to root for!)

One old farmhouse brought them together. It could also tear them apart.

Gigi has just uprooted her whole world to start a new life. The unexpected gift of a farmhouse in small-town Montana is just what she and her daughter need to escape big-city loneliness. The last thing she needs is attitude from the town’s sheriff, the most perfectly attractive and ruggedly handsome man she’s ever laid eyes on—and a complete jerk.

Jess knows all about women like Gigi. Beautiful. Sexy. Scheming. She’s stolen his sanctuary, the farmhouse that should have been his. But along with a face full of freckles, she’s got a sharp wit and a backbone of steel—something he doesn’t discover until after making a complete fool of himself. If he can earn back her trust and win her heart, he might just find the home he’s always needed.

306364(2.)  SUGAR DADDY by Lisa Kleypas

Liberty Jones has dreams and determination that will take her far away from Welcome, Texas—if she can keep her wild heart from ruling her mind. Hardy Cates sees Liberty as completely off-limits. His own ambitions are bigger than Welcome, and Liberty Jones is a complication he doesn’t need. But something magical and potent draws them to each other, in a dangerous attraction that is stronger than both of them.

When Hardy leaves town to pursue his plans, Liberty finds herself alone with a young sister to raise. Soon Liberty finds herself under the spell of a billionaire tycoon—a Sugar Daddy, one might say. But the relationship goes deeper than people think, and Liberty begins to discover secrets about her own family’s past.

Two men. One woman. A choice that can make her or break her. A woman you’ll root for every step of the way. A love story you’ll never forget.

OLD HOLLYWOOD: Movie Spotlight – Lili (1953)

lili 1953 2We’re kicking off our new Romance Recommendations series with one of old Hollywood’s most underrated romances: LILI (1953).

After the death of her father, Lili (Leslie Caron) moves to a new town in search of work and comes across a local circus troupe. Marc the Magician (Jean Pierre Aumont–so handsome) takes her under his wing and gets her a job as a waitress, despite the cynical warnings of Paul the Puppeteer (Mel Ferrer–also so handsome), who doesn’t like Lili at all.

Unfortunately, Lili makes a terrible waitress and gets fired on her first night. She contemplates suicide and begins to climb the ladder to the tightrope when a voice suddenly calls out to her. It’s Carrot Top, one of the puppets, and he talks her back down.

Now I know what you’re thinking. Puppets? No thank you. But wait! These aren’t the puppets from Dead Silence or Annabelle.  These puppets manage to be charming, not sinister, because you know behind their words and kindnesses is a real person–Paul.

The puppets strike up a friendship with Lili that’s sweet, genuine, and complex, but somehow it doesn’t translate to her relationship with Paul, who she hates more than ever. Meanwhile, behind the curtain Paul falls in love with Lili more and more every day.

LILI (1953) is quirky and unsettling and intensely romantic film. It walks a fine line between innocence and darkness, magic and maturity. I highly recommend checking it out!
